GutenDisplay Support

GutenDisplay is a project from Gutenberg Armory, operated by Printcent Van Gogh LLC, doing business as Gutenberg Armory.

For help, privacy questions or deletion requests, email printcentvangogh@gutenbergarmory.com.

Getting started

Open Calendars in GutenDisplay to connect Google Calendar, add a supported HTTPS iCalendar feed, or import an .ics snapshot. For Google, follow the TV's QR link in a phone browser and enter the TV code. You sign in with Google directly. Select a calendar and keep the TV linking screen open until it reports that the calendar is saved.

Google sign-in is currently offered to invited testers as part of pre-release testing. Public release will be announced on the GutenDisplay page.

Using the remote

Up/Down browses days or events. Right enters a day's events. Select or Right opens the selected event's details. Left or Back moves outward through details, event, day and list. Details stay open until closed, and passive calendar scrolling pauses while you inspect them.

Events remain visible while offline

Saved calendars can display without internet. A warning can appear when refresh fails; it does not necessarily mean the cache was lost. Restore connectivity, wait if you have refreshed repeatedly, and try Refresh. A rate-limit warning can require a cooldown before another attempt.

If authorization has expired or been revoked, link the Google calendar again. Keep an existing source until its replacement works, then remove the old one if necessary to avoid duplicates. Clearing app data is not an ordinary troubleshooting step because it erases saved sources.

Missing descriptions or guests

GutenDisplay shows fields provided by the calendar. Public events, subscription feeds, exports and account permissions can expose different amounts of information. Empty detail sections are hidden. A Partial list label means the supplied guest list is incomplete. The app cannot recover data a feed or provider does not make available to your account.

What to include in a support request

  • Your TV model and GutenDisplay app version.
  • Whether the source is Google, a subscription, or a file import.
  • The visible error text, what you expected, and what you tried.
  • Whether cached events still display and whether the problem follows a restart or network outage.

Please redact names, email addresses, event descriptions and private links from screenshots unless we specifically agree on information needed for a support case. Never send passwords, authorization tokens, private calendar-feed URLs, live pairing codes or authorization files. We can usually begin with the error text and source type alone.

Privacy and removal

You do not need to install or reopen the app to email a privacy request. See Delete Data or Disconnect for Google revocation and the limits of remotely erasing device-local data.
